Alexandria

Alexandria is a quaint town with a somewhat cosmopolitan feel, located on the Potomac River and boasting the nation's third-oldest historic district. Founded in 1749, Alexandria has a rich history with many of its historic buildings being preserved to this day. Recently, Alexandria was voted one of Travel + Leisure's Best Cities in the U.S. 2022 and a Condé Nast Traveler Top 5 Best Small City in the U.S. 2022. What a place to call home!

Located at the center of Old Town Alexandria, you'll find King Street, which was acknowledged as a "Great Street" of America by the American Planning Association in 2011. King Street is a walkable mile of centuries-old architecture at the heart of Old Town's 200+ restaurants and boutiques. There is even a free King Street trolley! In Alexandria, you'll also find a wealth of historic attractions like George Washington's Mount VernonThe National Inventors Hall of FameThe Carlyle House, and more. Some other unique Alexandria attractions include The Torpedo Factory Art Center's a former munitions factory now home to the nation's largest collection of working-artists', The Spite House a 325 sqft house built in 1830 to keep horse-drawn wagons and loiterers out of the alley, and the Old Town Farmers' Market one of the America's oldest farmers markets which has been running for 260 years.

On top of all of that, Alexandria is all about location, location, location! A mere 11-minute drive from Washington DC and offering public transportation methods such as the Metrorail and Metrobus, commuting is fast and easy!

You can explore the zoned schools for each home you are considering using their helpful Fairfax County Boundary Finder Tool or Alexandria City Boundary Finder Tool. I recommend carefully researching area schools before making a home purchase since where you live will have a big impact on the type of education your children will receive.
